Field Day with Wooldridge Elementary School

On May 2nd, the Tri Delta Sorority and the Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi hosted a Field Day for the Boys and Girls Club of Wooldridge Elementary. The event was hosted at the Sigma Chi and Tri Delta houses, and this is the sixth semester in a row that Sigma Chi has put on a Field Day for the Wooldridge Elementary Boys and Girls Club. Each fall semester, we host the event at Wooldridge Elementary School, and each spring, we switch it up and host the event with the Tri Delta Sorority at our respective houses.

It’s a great way that the fraternity is able to get involved and give back to the community. It’s the most fun service event that we do each semester, and the kids think so also, with many marking the event on their calendars so that they don’t miss it. This semester’s Field Day was another blast with over 140 kids coming and over 60 active members each from both Sigma Chi and Tri Delta. This event sums up our strong connection with the Boys and Girls Club from Wooldridge Elementary, and this connection can be seen through more than the semi-annual Field Day. Each semester, about 20 active individuals take an hour of their time each week to go up to the school and mentor a young elementary grade student. Both of these activities allow Sigma Chi brothers the opportunity to make a positive impact on a kid’s life and to give back to a community that has given us so much.
