Recruitment Chair

Dear Rushee,

If you are interested in becoming a part of the Alpha Nu Chapter at the University of Texas at Austin, please fill out the rush form below to get in contact with our recruitment team.

Congratulations on your admission into the University of Texas and your decision to go through recruitment. The Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi focuses on recruiting the most outstanding leaders, scholars, athletes, and well-rounded men to continue its long tradition of excellence on the Forty Acres. Prior to Sigma Chi’s founding in 1855, fraternities were based on the proposition that friendships are best formed by men of the same minds, talents, and personalities. Our founders, however, believed that true brotherhood could prosper only when men of different temperaments, talents, and convictions banded themselves together under a common set of ideals. It was on this foundation that Sigma Chi began, and the Alpha Nu Chapter has followed this ideal since its founding at the University of Texas in 1884.

Our chapter at the University of Texas has shown repeated success in building outstanding pledge classes each fall through summer recruitment, and will continue to do so this year. During the recruitment process, rushees are able to attend various events across Texas in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and other locations. These events are encouraged for all rushees to come meet the members of our chapter and to build high quality connections before even stepping foot on campus in the fall.

The recruitment team at Texas Sigma Chi is always looking for men who are committed to excellence and share the values of Sigma Chi. In order to be considered for membership in Sigma Chi, one must be a Man of Good Character, A Student of Fair Ability with Ambitious Purposes, a Congenial Disposition, Possessed of Good Morals, Having a High Sense of Honor and a Deep Sense of Personal Responsibility. For men who meet these standards, Alpha Nu quickly offers them the opportunity to become involved in numerous student organizations that shape and lead campus life.

The chapter also understands the importance of building a solid academic record for use in starting a career after graduation. Our chapter is able to maintain an impressive GPA that ranks in the upper echelon of fraternities at UT Austin.

Our Alpha Nu Chapter also values the opportunity to enjoy social events that are an integral aspect of the thriving fraternity and and sorority scene at the University of Texas. The chapter also hosts “Fight Night” and “Derby Days” each year. Fight Night is a philanthropic boxing tournament hosted at the Sigma Chi house each fall. The 35th annual Fight Night had the best turnout and raised an unprecedented $100,000 for its beneficiaries. Derby Days is a week-long competition among UT sororities with the goal of raising money for Sigma Chi’s official philanthropic partner, the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Since 2008, Alpha Nu has donated over $300,000 to charity.

As one of the largest fraternities in the country, Sigma Chi allows undergraduates to create lifelong friendships both during and after college at the University of Texas. By joining one of the largest alumni networks after graduation, our members are then able to carry the brotherhood established at the Alpha Nu chapter onto the rest of the world.
