The Event

Texas Sigma Chi Derby Days provides an opportunity for sororities at The University of Texas to take an active role in fundraising for local and national philanthropies while participating in fun competitions against each other. The multi-day event allows sororities to go head to head in competitions, while they work together leading a positive change in the community. The competition coincides with a two-week fundraising effort for sororities, and the winners of Derby Days are always the sororities that raise the most money for charity.

Philanthropy

Derby Days is unique in its ability to unite the UT Greek Community towards the mission of raising money for worthy causes that better the community and the world. The majority of funds from Derby Days are donated to the beneficiaries of the winning sororities, but a portion of donations also benefit the philanthropic partners of Sigma Chi: the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. In recent history, Texas Derby Days has given to other local charities including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Austin and Wooldridge Elementary School. We plan to continuously grow our support for these foundations we hold dear to our chapter.
